Question:

Dr. Naomi Head’s lecture gave us all some fascinating insight into ideas about empathy that many of us may have never perhaps heard. We tend to think of empathy as something positive, however, during the presentation she defined it as neutral. How did this definition strike you, did you find her definition compelling, why/why not? Also, she talked about various forms of empathy, both used negatively (like torture) and positively (for making peace). Discuss some examples of some potential costs or benefits to empathy in relation to contemporary conflicts in international relations
