Eng 122 week 5 discussion 1
Ashford 6: – Week 5 – Discussion
Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Reference the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.
Revisiting Argument, Research, and Scholarly Writing
In the 21st Century, it is important to be able to research and make wise decisions based on reliable information. In fact, employers have high expectations regarding their employees’ abilities to research. As discussed in the Post Your Introduction forum, due to the overwhelming amount of information available researching and locating reliable sources to guide decision-making can be very challenging. Let’s examine in this discussion the challenges of research and how developing information literacy skills can help.
Prepare
As you prepare to write your final discussion for this class, take a few moments to do the following:
- Read and complete the ENG122 playbook chart.
- Review the grading rubric for this discussion.
Reflect
Before drafting your initial post, take time to reflect on your earlier assumptions regarding argument, research, and scholarly writing. What has changed over the last five weeks? What have you learned, and how will you apply your new skills and knowledge to activities in the future?
Write (due Thursday, Day 3)
In 200 to 300 words, complete the ENG122 playbook chart, and add any additional comments you’d like to share regarding this class.
Respond to Peers (due Monday, Day 7)
In 125 to 200 words each, respond to at least two classmates. In each response, review each section of the playbook and offer helpful advice, encouragement, resources, and information to your classmates.
